gotzmannNumber -- Compute the Gotzmann number of a Hilbert polynomial

Synopsis

Usage:

gotzmannNumber hp
Inputs:
- hp, a projective Hilbert polynomial, or
- hp, a ring element, a Hilbert polynomial.
Outputs:
- an integer

Description

Returns the Gotzmann number of the input polynomial, i.e. the length of its Gotzmann decomposition (see gotzmannDecomposition).

i2 : gotzmannNumber(3*t+4)

i3 : gotzmannDecomposition(3*t+4)
